Todd King is in his second tour of duty as a Marlin coach. A Marlin swimmer himself as he grew up, Todd went on to swim competitively at both South Caldwell High School (Class of '88) and UNC-Charlotte (Class of '92). His coaching career began in the summer of 1988 when he became a coach of the Granite Falls Swim Team and he coached there until 1992. His first tour as coach of the Marlins (then Caldwell County Swim Team) was from 1993 through the summer of 1999. He also coached the Hibriten High School Swim Team from 1996-2006. Todd rejoined the Marlins in the summer of 2002.

Todd's philosophy of swimming is "to build all swimmers' number one asset - self-esteem - and as a coach, to accept being a role-model and provide an atmosphere in which all swimmers can reach their highest potential." 

Todd and his wife Shana have been married for 13 years. They have two children - Amelia who is 10 and Macie who is 7 both are Marlin Swimmers. Their family resides in Hudson, and they are members of First United Methodist Church in Granite Falls. Todd is employed full-time at Bernhardt Furniture in Lenoir. Email Coach Todd King

Pat Hites began her affiliation with the team in 1997 as a Marlin mom. Swimming quickly became a part of her everyday life, and she went on to receive her Red Cross Life Guarding and Water Safety Instructor certifications in the spring of 1999. A swimmer in her own right, she is an active member of United States Masters Swimming. Her coaching career began in the fall of 1999 when she first became a Marlin coach.

Pat's philosophy of swimming is "to see each swimmer as an individual - each with their own strengths and weaknesses - and to work with them through their weaknesses and build on their self-esteem in order for them to achieve their goals."

Pat and her husband Mark have three children - Justin who is 19, Kyle who is 14 and Collin who is 11. All three boys are Marlin swimmers. Justin attends University of North Florida. Their family lives in Happy Valley. Pat is also employed by the City of Lenoir as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Email Coach Pat Hites

Chris Washburn became a Marlin coach in June 2006. Chris is working primarily with our Red and White groups. He also runs morning workouts for our Senior group. Chris is also the new head coach for Hibriten High School. He brings a wealth of swimming knowledge from his background as a member of the Shelby High swim team (State Champions 1981) and then on to UNC-Charlotte both under the Coaching of current NOMAD Head Coach Steve Billings. Chris and his wife Jackie have been married for 17 years. They have two children- Jake who is 14 and Kate who is 8 both are Marlin swimmers. Their family resides in Lenoir and they attend First Baptist Church in Lenoir. Chris works full time for Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Email Coach Chris Washburn
